TechnoMotive Drag Race Modifications
- Clutch cut, or "stutterbox" - Mitsubishi in their wildest
dreams could have never conceived of this one! With the simple addition of a
single wire to the clutch switch, the ECU will temporarily lower the rev limiter
a preset amount whenever the clutch is depressed. This means the engine speed
will automatically decrease when the clutch is used for shifting, allowing you
to keep the throttle planted firmly on the floor between shifts. This leads to
faster shifts and less turbo spool up time after the shift.
- Selectable launch RPM - Ever have the problem of not being able to
control your launch RPMs while watching the drag race starting tree lights? We
added a slight tweak to the clutch cut mod above - the ECU will store a separate
rev limit value for when the car is stopped and when the car is moving. This
allows you to, say, launch at 4500 RPM and shift between 6000 and 7800 RPM. But
since launch speed can vary from track to track and day to day, we've made the
launch RPMs selectable using a method similar to the gauge selection process
above. You can specify five different launch RPMs. Here is a QuickTime movie
(1MB) of Tom Stangl launching his car using this mod
with 6000 RPM selected. Read our instructions
on how to select the launch RPMs.
